Dublin Core
Title
1980 Allegheny County Historic Resource Survey (51) 409 Mill St
Subject
409 Mill Street / Cahen’s Children’s Store — Coraopolis Historic Resource Survey, 1980
Description
Pennsylvania Historic Resource Survey form documenting the commercial building at 409 Mill Street in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, identified at the time as A. Locksmith and shown with Cahen’s Children’s Store signage. Dating from approximately 1900–1919, the two-story Classical-style building is constructed of brick with stone and wood trim on a stone foundation. Architectural features include double-hung windows with plain stone sills and lintels, a small elliptical second-story balcony with an iron balustrade, and a wooden cornice above the storefront with prominent corner modillion blocks. The original upper cornice had been removed and boarded over, while the ground floor contained plate-glass storefront windows divided by brick piers. The survey describes the building as a good infill structure within a block of more decorative commercial buildings.
