1980 Allegheny County Historic Resource Survey (48) 4th Ave - Sons of Italy
Dublin Core
Title
1980 Allegheny County Historic Resource Survey (48) 4th Ave - Sons of Italy
Subject
Coraopolis Lodge No. 369, Sons of Italy — Fourth Avenue — Coraopolis Historic Resource Survey, 1980
Description
Pennsylvania Historic Resource Survey form documenting Coraopolis Lodge No. 369, Sons of Italy, on Fourth Avenue in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The building appears to incorporate an older 2½-story Gothic Revival house dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, later obscured by a one-story Art Deco addition. The original structure is described as having a hipped roof with patterned slate tiles, gable-roofed wall dormers, carved vergeboards, and paneled gable ends. The later Art Deco addition features Pompeian brick, stone trim, glass-block windows and transom, stone coping, circular ornament, and a central entrance inscribed “Coraopolis Lodge No. 369.” The survey notes that the addition gave the building some local visual interest but significantly altered and concealed the earlier house.
